ОДНА ИЗ РАБОТ ИЗВЕСТНОГО КИЕВСКОГО ГРАФИКА ИЛЛАРИОНА ПЛЕЩИНСКОГО (1892—1961ГГ.), КОТОРЫЙ ПРЕИМУЩЕСТВЕННО РАБОТАЛ В СФЕРЕ ЛИРИЧЕСКОГО ПЕЙЗАЖА / ИЛЛЮСТРАЦИЯ ПРЕДОСТАВЛЕНА МУЗЕЕМ СОВРЕМЕННОГО ИСКУССТВА УКРАИНЫ Свой вернисаж организаторы назвали «Белым альбомом.  Сокровища коллекции из музейного сборника. Глава 1». Его можно назвать  творческим итогом десятилетнего труда первого частного Музея современного искусства. Напомним, сначала была небольшая коллекция, которую ее владелец,  известный бизнесмен и меценат Сергей Цюпко, начал собирать 20 лет назад. Основу ее составляла нефигуративная живопись современных украинских художников. Потом временные и географические пределы сборника расширились, сосредоточив внимание на искусстве Украины периода второй половины ХХ в., который, к сожалению, почти отсутствует в отечественных музеях. Ныне это три выставочных пространства для постоянных и временных экспозиций,  и это единственный в нашей стране музей, где сохраняются произведения многих представителей различных художественных школ и направлений всех регионов Украины от 30-х годов ХХ века до сегодняшнего дня. Коллекция насчитывает более пяти тысяч произведений живописи, графики, скульптуры и декоративно-прикладного искусства ( сохраняются произведения более 700 авторов). «Белый альбом»  составлен из трех глав. Каждая глава — это ряд известных, знаковых имен художников разных поколений и разных стилей и  направлений. Первую главу  открывают произведения  88  художников,  среди    которых   такие   знаковые имена, как  И. Айвазовский, А. Эрдели, И. Бокшай, М. Дерегус, Ф. Манайло, Т. Яблонская, В. Заузе, Е. Кульчицкая, Л. Левицкий и другие. Духовным украшением  Музея современного искусства Украины является коллекция икон Волынской, Галицкой, Закарпатской, Черниговской  и ряда других школ, которые отражают стилистические особенности и самобытность украинских мастеров (эта коллекция впервые будет демонстрироваться публике).

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
