Президент Одеського міжнародного кінофестивалю та дружина колишнього посадовця часів Януковича Сергія Тігіпка – Вікторія під час прес-конференції назвала події, які відбуваються на Сході України громадянською війною, щоправда згодом зазначила, що зовсім не це мала на увазі. Відео виступу дружини опального політика з’явилося в Youtube. На кадрах вона пояснює, чому іноземні зірки так неохоче їдуть до України. "У нас війна, і для них усе це дуже страшно. Агенти досі не хочуть везти, розмови ж не з зірками, ми знаємо, що є українські ознаки у багатьох зірок. Але, на жаль, ми з ними спілкуємося не напряму. Це люди, навколо яких – величезний барєр агентів, а для них – проста річ: у нас країна, в якій всередині є громадянська війна, у нас невирішений конфлікт. Тому, на жаль, вони після цього навіть не розмовляють. Тому треба набратися терпіння. І розуміти, що, привозячи 300 іноземців в країну, де громадянська війна, це дуже серйозна перемога всієї команди кінофестивалю", – зазначила Тігіпко. Згодом, коли її промова набула чималого резонансу, президент Одеського міжнародного кінофестивалю на своїй сторінці у Facebook зауважила, що насправді не вона, а зарубіжні гості розглядають конфлікт на Донбасі як громадянську війну. Україна зазнала агресії з боку Росії, через що на Сході України вже більше трьох років триває відкритий збройний конфлікт. Але ми повинні розуміти, що західні гості отримують інформацію про ситуацію з різних джерел – з медіа, з соцмереж, спілкуючись зі знайомими або рідше – з представниками посольств. Іноді ця інформація є дуже суперечливою. Зарубіжні колеги під час спілкування з нами транслюють безліч понять: війна, збройний конфлікт, громадянські зіткнення, антитерористична операція, – підкреслила дружина опального політика. Крім того, Тігіпко наголосила, що разом з колегами вони проводять розяснювальну роботу та розповідають зарубіжним гостям правду про ситуацію в Україні.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
