    В субботу, 19 августа, умер польский писатель Януш Гловацкий. Об этом сообщает его жена, информирует news.eizvestia.com. Драматургу было 78 лет. Члены семьи пока не разглашают причины смерти Гловацкого. Януш Гловацкий родился в 1938 году в Познани. Свое первое произведение опубликовал в 1960 году в «Альманахе молодых», а четыре года спустя вошел в редакцию варшавского еженедельника «Культура», в котором публиковал свои рассказы и фельетоны. Работал сценаристом. Написал сценарии к фильмам А. Вайды «Охота на мух» (1969) и М. Пивовского «Рейс» (1970). В декабре 1981 года Гловацкий поехал в Англию на премьеру спектакля Kopciuch, поставленного по его пьесе. Там его застало военное положение, которое было введено в Польше. Гловацкий эмигрировал в США. В Америке он написал несколько произведений, среди которых «Охота на тараканов», «Антигона в Нью-Йорке» и «Четвертая сестра». В романе «Последний сторож» в образе главного героя, гениального дизайнера Дж. Дж. Кейна, Гловацкий сатирически изобразил воплощение так называемой американской мечты. Роман «Good night, Джези» написан по мотивам биографии Ежи Косински. В 2013 году этот роман номинировался на премию имени Яна Михальского. Гловацкий был лауреатом престижных литературных премий, в частности American Theatre Critics Association Award, John. S. Guggenheim Award, Hollywood Drama-Logue Critics Award и National Endowment for the Arts. As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
