В сентябре Международная литературная корпорация MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ выпустила новый роман одного из самых актуальных украинских писателей современности Сергея Жадана "Интернат". А теперь автор отправляется в европейский тур в поддержку книги. Произведение рассказывает о том, как изменилась жизнь людей, когда на Востоке Украины началась война. "... Однажды, проснувшись, ты видишь за окном огонь, – говорится в аннотации. – Ты его не разжигал. Но тушить его придется и тебе ... Январь 2015 года. Донбасс. Паша, учитель одной из школ, наблюдает, как линия фронта неуклонно приближается к его дому. Происходит так, что он вынужден эту линию пересечь. Чтобы потом вернуться назад. И для этого ему по меньшей мере нужно определиться, на чьей стороне его дом ... ". В поддержку книги Международная литературная корпорация MERIDIAN CZERNOWITZ организует европейский тур автора, который продлится в течение 2017-2018 гг. И сначала охватит такие страны: Германия, Австрия, Швейцария, Франция, Италия и Испания. Тур Сергея Жадана в Германии: По словам писателя, он надеется на серьезный и откровенный разговор с публикой. "В ситуации войны и противостояния агрессору, – считает Сергей Жадан, – важно напоминать всем потенциальным союзникам, одним из которых, безусловно, является Германия, о своей позиции, свою правду. Мы живем в странное время – иногда даже вещи простые и очевидные потребует повторения и проговаривания . Вот этим мы и будем заниматься – напоминать о своей правде, делиться с ней, находить понимание". Презентации в этих странах будут проходить в рамках проекта "Усиление звучания украинских голосов в Западной Европе" при поддержке Open Society Foundations (OSF) в кооперации с европейскими литературными домами, фондами, представителями украинской диаспоры в Европе.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
