Харви Вайнштейн, продюсер из Голливуда, которого обвиняют в многочисленных домогательствах к женщинам, пройдет курс лечения от сексуальной зависимости. Об этом сообщает ВВС. 65-летний Вайнштейн, по ее данным, выехал из своего дома в Лос-Анджелесе в реабилитационный центр. Где он находится и сколько времени там проведет, не уточняется. Дочь продюсера Лили Вайнштейн перед его отъездом записала видеообращение продюсера. В нем он заявил о том, что "нуждается в помощи" и что "все совершают ошибки". Газета "Нью-Йорк таймс" на прошлой неделе опубликовала итоги своего журналистского расследования. В статье, в частности, говорилось, что в течение примерно 30 лет Вайнштейн домогался сотрудниц компаний, где он работал. Близости с ними продюсер якобы хотел в обмен на содействие в карьерном росте, передает ТАСС. В прошлом продюсер работал над десятками получивших мировую известность фильмов. Например, над дилогией режиссера Квентина Тарантино "Убить Билла" и серией фильмов "Крик". Он получил премии Британской академии кино и телевизионных искусств (БАФТА) и "Оскар" за продюсирование "Влюбленного Шекспира". Компания "Мирамакс филмс", сооснователем которой является продюсер, работала над знаменитым фильмом "Криминальное чтиво". Вайштейн также имел весьма прочные связи в Демократической партии США. При администрации Обамы продюсер 13 раз был гостем в Белом доме. В период с 1990 по 2016 годы, Вайнштейн собрал пожертвования на общую сумму около 1,5 миллиона долларов, в том числе, на нужды предвыборной кампании Хиллари Клинтон, экс-кандидата от Демократической партии на пост президента.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
