Известный советский писатель и сценарист Эдуард Успенский объявил войну студии «Союзмультфильм». Он обвинил кинокомпанию в грубом нарушении авторских прав. Речь идет о знаменитых героях из Простоквашино — Дяде Федоре, почтальоне Печкине, коте Матроскине и псе Шарике. В ноябре председатель правления «Союзмультфильма» Юлиана Слащева заявила, что киностудия приступает к работе над новыми сериями «Простоквашино». Первая из них должна появиться уже в 2018 году. Не вдаваясь в детали, Слащева рассказала, что в ней Матроскин будет строить метрополитен. Успенский в 1973 году выпустил повесть «Дядя Федор, пес и кот», в которой впервые появились полюбившиеся нескольким поколениям персонажи. Затем он написал ряд повестей и принимал участие в создании трех мультфильмов «Трое из Простоквашино», «Каникулы в Простоквашино» и «Зима в Простоквашино». Писатель подтверждает, что заключил с киностудией соглашение о сотрудничестве, но авторские права «Союзмультфильму» не передавал. По его словам, он не разрешал снимать продолжение мультфильма о Простоквашино. «Я начинаю бунтовать, — заявил Успенский. — Говорю, что же вы делаете, это же мои герои! И когда я узнаю, что госпожа Слащева выпускает сценарий, где кот Матроскин строит метрополитен, я начинаю седеть от ужаса. Не должен кот Матроскин строить метрополитен!» Эдуард Успенский также сообщил, что написал открытое письмо президенту России Владимиру Путину с просьбой вмешаться в конфликт с «Союзмультфильмом». Как сообщали «ФАКТЫ», в США суд не признал авторские права павиана на сделанные им фотографии-селфи.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
