    Археологи после десяти лет поисков обнаружили на дне второго по величине озера Ван на Ближнем Востоке развалины крупного замка. По оценкам ученых, зданию более трех тысяч лет. Потерянные подводные города и замки являются популярным мотивом в фольклоре во всем мире. Как правило, это всего лишь легенды, но турецким ученым, которые работали вместе с независимой командой дайверов, повезло найти здание из легенд на озере Ван, информирует news.eizvestia.com. «Ходили слухи, что под водой могут быть интересные находки, но большинство археологов и представителей музеев говорили нам, что найти что-либо невозможно», — рассказал глава команды дайверов Тахсин Силан. Предположительно, замок был сооружен во времена существования царства Урарту IX-VI веках до нашей эры. До середины XIX века среди развалин еще находились поселения, но потом люди покинули эти места, так как уровень озера Ван поднялся. Народы, проживавшие возле озера, строили свои жилища и культовые сооружения, когда уровень воды был значительно ниже. Замок занимает около километра, его стены высотой 3-4 метра, материал из которого сделан замок неплохо сохранился, стены могут быть еще выше, но их часть может быть прикрыта осадком. По мнению исследователей, замок родом из железного века, принадлежал утраченной цивилизации Урарту, также называемой царством Ван, которое процветало в регионе с 9-го по 6-й век до нашей эры. Ученые только начали работы над замком и пока не могут указать ни его точные размеры, ни что находится внутри его стен. Известно только, что высота стен более трех метров, а щелочные воды озера способствовали сохранению замка. «Это чудо, что мы смогли найти этот замок под водой. Археологи будут приходить сюда, чтобы изучить историю замка и предоставить информацию о нем. Пока мы обнаружили точное местонахождение замка, сфотографировали его и добились прогресса в наших исследованиях. Мы считаем, что мы открыли новую область изучения для археологов и историков», — добавил дайвер Тахсин Силан.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza.
