14 грудня у Києві нарешті почали прикрашати головну ялинку України. Цього дня на ній почали розвішувати гірлянди та встановили верхівку – висота різдвяної зірки становить 3 метри. Як повідомляє ТСН, зірку, що прикрашатиме київську ялинку, спеціально виготовили для цьогорічних свят, а для її встановлення прибула 30-метрова вишка. До слова, за усім процесом слідкував рятувальник. Відтак, разом із верхівкою висота рекордної ялинки становить щонайменше 33 метри. "Фішкою цього року є парк ілюмінацій, який буде розташовуватись у сквері на Володимирському проїзді. Там буде понад 30 фігур з усього світу: медведики, мікрофони, карета. Воно також буде усе сяяти", – розповіла представник організаторів Анастасія Кузнецова. Додамо, що усі роботи планують закінчити за найближчі вихідні, а урочисте запалення святкового дерева відбудеться о 19:00 19 грудня на Софійській площі. Організатори мають намір, аби все було видно у цей час з космосу. Організатори святкувань Folk Ukraine на своїй сторінці у Facebook опублікували відповідні фото. На кадрах видно також і облагородження території навколо ялинки.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
