Россия пытается повлиять на результаты голосования Американской академии кинематографических искусств и наук, которая определяет победителей премии "Оскар". Об этом говорится в материале газеты The New York Times от 21 февраля. Отмечается, что Кремль хочет помешать выиграть двум документальным фильмам, которые "вызывают гнев" у президента РФ Владимира Путина. Это лента о войне в Сирии "Последние люди в Алеппо" сирийского режиссера Фераса Файяда и расследование американца Брайана Фогеля "Икар" о российской государственной допинговой программе. По словам Файяда, его работа, а также члены съемочной группы стали мишенью для критики российских СМИ и атак интернет-троллей. Фогель был вынужден четыре раза менять локацию своего производственного офиса, использовать разные телефоны и тщательно скрывать местонахождение главного героя фильма – бывшего главу Московской антидопинговой лаборатории Григория Родченкова. Вице-президент фонда Карнеги Эндрю Вайс пояснил изданию, что "грязные медиакампании" с использованием атак в соцсетях являются "стандартной операционной процедурой", которую РФ использует против своих мнимых врагов. Номинантов на "Оскар" объявили 23 января. "Последние люди в Алеппо" и "Икар" вместе с тремя другими лентами соревнуются в категории "Лучший документальный фильм". As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
