Цветочные рисунки нашли во время ремонтных работ в Линдисфарнском замке, который расположен на острове британского графства Нортумберленд. По словам ученых, роспись была сделана около 350 лет назад. Удивительная находка раскрыла несколько секретов замка XVI века, который считался фортом, передает The Daily Mail. Орнаменты обнаружили на кухне и спальне, расположенных в западной части здания. Сначала ученые думали, что на стенах изображены бабочки, однако после исследования восстановили цветочный рисунок. По предварительным данным, рисунки были созданы в середине или в конце XIX века. Сейчас на месте находки работают эксперты из Национального фонда Великобритании, которые уже отметили, что орнамент сделал профессиональный художник. Это такая редкая находка. Мы всегда очень осторожны, когда занимаемся реконструкцией исторических памятников, но было очень неожиданно найти эти картины здесь, – рассказал один из ученых Джон Винн-Гриффитс. Известно, что Линдисфарнский замок вооружили пушками по приказу королевы Елизаветы I. Поскольку форт был уязвим к нападениям, ее дополнительно укрепили. Впоследствии здание сделали стратегической точкой, где располагался охранный гарнизон. К этому времени замок считали обычным фортом, однако обнаруженные рисунки свидетельствуют о том, что здание не просто служило базой для солдат. As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
