По словам известной писательницы Ирен Роздобудько, после переезда из Донецка в Киев она приняла принципиальное важное решение для себя - выучить украинский язык.

Языковые войны набирают обороты в Украине "Я родилась в Донецке, семья у меня украинская, на все детские, школьные праздники я была в украинском костюме, в веночке, но разговаривали мы на русском, поэтому и стихи я начала писать на том языке", — сказала писательница. По словам Роздобудько, после переезда из Донецка в Киев она приняла принципиальное важное решение для себя — выучить украинский язык. "У меня тогда еще не было самоидентификации, такая была среда, хотя я вам скажу, когда в 1988 году я переехала в Киев, то решила, что пока не выучу украинский язык, буду молчать. Я год промолчала, а потом заговорила и пошла работать в украинское издание. Это был мой сознательный выбор, для меня было принципиально заговорить на украинском языке, а потом было принципиально писать на украинском языке", — сказала она. Ранее сообщалось, что Николаевский облсовет не смог отменить статус регионального для русского языка.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
