Художественные фото Олега Забелина, которые становятся обложками бестселлеров по версии New York Times и иллюстрируют множество статей военной тематики в топовых мировых изданиях – New York Post, Deutsche Welle, The Huffington Post – будут представлены на выставке "Воины света" 2 мая в Национальном музее Тараса Шевченко . Как выглядят австрийские или норвежские спецотряды, военно-морские силы США и армии Германии, Франции? Носит ли украинский КОРД больше снаряжения, чем американское полицейское подразделение S.W.A.T.? И почему надо провести полдня в львовском болоте или в водах Днепра вблизи Осокорков, чтобы сделать один удачный кадр такой тематики? Все это отражено в постановочных работах фотохудожника, который отобрал для этой выставки наилучшие 55 образов за 10 лет съемки. Олег Забелин – фотограф по призванию, искатель приключений и основатель первого в мире фотобанка военной тематики www.getmilitaryphotos.com. Он объездил всю Украину, чтобы создать сотни образов воинов мира, которые пользуются большим спросом современных западных СМИ, писателей и создателей кино. Так, одна из реконструкций Олега Забелина даже стала рекламным постером американского сериала The Reaper (Жнец) о снайпере Николасе Ирвинге, который в 2009-м, во время войны в Афганистане, ликвидировал 33 талибанских боевика одной очередью выстрелов. Выставка продлится до 13 мая. Вход – по стоимости билета в музей.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
