Спасти Олега Сенцова: культурные деятели России требуют освободить украинского режиссера

Более 130 деятелей науки и культуры России подписали совместное обращение ассоциации "Свободное слово", Санкт-Петербургского ПЕН-клуба и "Вольного исторического общества" с требованием освободить незаконно осужденного Россией украинского режиссера Олега Сенцова. 14 мая Олег Сенцов, осужденный в России к 20 годам колонии, объявил бессрочную голодовку с требованием освободить всех незаконно осужденных в России украинцев. Украинские кинематографисты читали документальную пьесу в поддержку политзаключенного, а писатель Андрей Любка даже призвал один день поголодать в знак солидарности с заключенным режиссером. Теперь с заявлением в поддержку Сенцова выступили более 130 деятелей культуры в РФ. Заявление ассоциации "Свободное слово", Санкт-Петербургского ПЕН-клуба и "Вольного исторического общества" опубликовано на сайте научно-популярной газеты "Троицкий вариант". Среди подписавшихся под обращением – писательница, лауреат Нобелевской премии по литературе Светлана Алексиевич, писательница Людмила Улицкая, поэт Лев Оборин, журналист Сергей Пархоменко, лингвист Алексей Гиппиус, литературовед Александр Лавров. Мы требуем отправить Сенцова на его родину – в Украину. Смерть Олега Сенцова станет позором для России и навсегда запятнает тех, кто мог бы его спасти, но не спас, – говорится в обращении деятелей культуры России. Накануне пикеты в поддержку Олега Сенцова происходили в центре Москвы.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
