Врятувати Олега Сенцова: культурні діячі Росії вимагають звільнити українського режисера

Понад 130 діячів науки і культури Росії підписали спільне звернення асоціації "Свободное слово", Санкт-Петербурзького ПЕН-клубу та "Вольного исторического общества" із звільнити незаконно засудженого у Росії українського режисера Олега Сенцова. 14 травня Олег Сенцов, засуджений у Росії до 20 років колонії, оголосив безстрокове голодування з вимогою звільнити усіх незаконно засуджених у Росії українців. Українські кіномитці читали документальну пєсу на підтримку політвязня, а письменник Андрій Любка навіть закликав один день поголодувати на знак солідарності із увязненим режисером. Тепер із заявою на підтримку сенцова виступили понад 130 діячів культури в РФ. Заяву асоціації "Свободное слово", Санкт-Петербурзького ПЕН-клубу та "Вольного исторического общества" опублікована на сайті науково-популярної газети "Троицкий вариант". Серед тих, хто підписався під зверненням – письменниця, лауреат Нобелівської премії з літератури Світлана Алексієвич, письменниця Людмила Улицька, поет Лев Оборін, журналіст Сергій Пархоменко, лінгвіст Олексій Гіппіус, літературознавець Олександр Лавров. Ми вимагаємо відправити Сенцова на його батьківщину – в Україну. Смерть Олега Сенцова стане ганьбою для Росії і назавжди заплямує тих, хто міг би його врятувати, але не врятував, – йдеться у звернення культурних діячів Росії. Напередодні пікети на підтримку Олега Сенцова відбувались у центрі Москви.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
