22 июня, в Австрии, в Институте славистики Венского университета было определено лауреатов Международной премии имени Ивана Франко. Соответствующая информация появилась на сайте Международного фонда Ивана Франко. Как отмечается, в номинации "За весомые достижения в области социально-гуманитарных наук" лауреатом победил Йоханнес Реми за труд "Братья или враги: Украинское национальное движение и Россия, с 1840-х до 1870-х годов", которое было признано лучшим. В номинации "За весомые достижения в области украинистики" победу одержала монография "...И последняя часть дороги. Иван Франко в 1908-1916 годах" авторства Ярославы Мельник. Заметим, что в состав международного жюри вошли 12 ученых из университетов Украины, Австрии, Италии , Словакии и Польши, а победители получат денежное вознаграждение и золотой знак лауреата. Сама же церемония награждения лауреатов Международной премии имени Ивана Франко состоится 27 августа 2018 года в Дрогобыче на Львовщине – именно здесь родился литератор. Что такое Международная премия имени Ивана Франко?Ее было основано в 2015 году внуком писателя Роландом Франко. Основной целью Премии является содействие всеобъемлющему изучению творческой, научной, общественной деятельности Ивана Франко, поощрение ученых из разных стран мира к проведению актуальных исследований в области социально-гуманитарных наук и украинистики. Премия является ежегодной и вручается 27 августа – в день рождения Ивана Франко. В предыдущие годы ее лауреатами становились бывший глава УГКЦ Любомир Гузар (2016 год), профессор Института славистики Венского университета Михаэль Мозер (2017), заслуженный профессор ЛНУ имени Франко Олег Шаблий (2017).

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
