Бал Института костюма музея Метрополитен "Met Gala" в Нью-Йорке объявил тематику события, которое состоится в 2019 году. Следующая выставка костюмов и выход звезд на красную дорожку будут посвящены "дурному вкусу". Официально новая тема Met Gala 2019 звучит как Camp: Notes on Fashion ("Кэмп: заметки о моде"). То есть в соответствии с заявленной темой все костюмы должны отражать эстетику Кэмпа, которая характеризуется иронией, некоторой пошлостью, повышенной театральностью и приверженностью к плохому вкусу. Кэмп особенно был популярен в 1960-е годы, который часто освещали в своих фильмах такие режиссеры как Джордж и Майк Кучар, Джек Смит, Энди Уорхол, Джон Уотерс ("Розовые фламинго", "Лак для волос", "Полиэстер"). На выставке костюмов во время бала Met Gala 2019 будет представлено около 175 экспонатов, в которые будут входить мужские и женские костюмы, живопись, скульптура и графика. Новыми сопредседателями 24-го по счету бала станут музыкант Гари Стайлз, певица Леди Гага, теннисистка Серена Уильямс, креативный директор Gucci Алессандро Микеле и редактор журнала Vogue Анна Винтур. В 2019 году Met Gala 2019 по традиции состоится в первый понедельник мая. Что известно про балл Met Gala? Ежегодный бал Met Gala объединяет самых известных лиц модной и киноиндустрии, которые появляются на красной дорожке в соответствующих образах заявленной тематики. Главным организатором такого фэшн-события становится главный редактор модного издания Vogue Анна Винтур. Попасть на роскошный вечер не так легко, поскольку цена входного билета на бал составляет не менее 30 тысяч долларов, не говоря уже о самой вечеринке, которая происходит без присутствия камер и папарацци – около 275 тысяч долларов за место за столиком. Кроме знатных спонсоров, которые поддерживают это грандиозное событие, все собранные средства на балу отправляются в поддержку самого фонда Института костюма Метрополитен-музея.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
