В столице состоялся грандиозный бал – уникальное социальное мероприятие "Пригласи меня с войны" с участием украинских военных и участников проекта "Украинские амаzонки". Мероприятие ко Дню Защитника Украины посвятили проблемам реабилитации участников боевых действий на Донбассе. Мероприятие организовали при содействии Министерства информационной политики. Его открыли Государственным гимном Украины и чествованием павших воинов минутой молчания. Этот проект для того, чтобы показать всему миру, что любовь, вера, надежда, стремление к свободе, стремление к независимости не нуждаются в переводе. Так же как не нуждается в переводе танец или настоящее искусство, если оно искреннее и если оно идет от сердца. А наши участники, как вы видите, танцуют сердцем, – сказала режиссер проекта. Военные журналисты и волонтеры пригласили бойцов прямо с передовой, чтобы показать, что после войны тоже есть жизнь. 20 пар презентовали совместный вальс и свои уникальные танцевальные номера, которые готовили почти полгода! Во время мероприятия пары "рассказывали" в танце свои волнующие истории с фронта: матери и сына, который пошел защищать страну, влюбленных, которые поженились на войне, людей с ограниченными физическими возможностями, которые не потеряли веру в жизнь. Не обошлось и без сюрпризов, которые сильно умиляют. После страстного танца военный батальона "Донбасс-Украина" Виталий Аверин предложил своей любимой – волонтерке Алле Мартынюк – пожениться. Я долго готовился к этому. Утром Алла сказала, что ей снилось, мол, я сделал предложение. Я ей ответил, что сны могут быть вещими. И сейчас я хочу, чтобы вы все стали свидетелями... Любимая, ты выйдешь за меня? – спросил "Авери". И девушка согласилась... Украинские группы The Doox и "Без Обмежень" вживую сопровождали выступления пар. В рамках проекта в КГГА также открыли выставку "У войны есть женское лицо" ко Дню защитника Украины.

As a film critic of medium-low importance, one of my most sacred duties is participating in the Washington Area Film Critics Association (WAFCA) year-end awards extravaganza. During this hallowed time of year, I watch dozens of movies and mine my own recollection of the good, the bad, and the ugly to determine what, precisely, the best films of the year were. At the end of this grueling process—this death march through endless stacks of DVDs, searching for the rarest pearl in an ever-increasing sea of muck—we WAFCA members nominate up to five films/people in each category. The five films/people who earn the most votes in every category are then voted upon by the whole of the membership, the winners are chosen, the press release is sent out, and blessed, blessed relief descends upon us as we put the exercise to rest for 11 months.
