Росія опустилася на третє місце за кількістю медалей на Олімпійських іграх-2014 після позбавлення Третьякова і Нікітіної їхніх нагородПро це повідомляє Цензор.НЕТ із посиланням на Р-Спорт. Усі результати російських скелетоністів Олександра Третьякова, Олени Нікітіної, Марії Орлової та Ольги Потиліциної, визнаних винними в порушенні антидопінгових правил, з Олімпіади 2014 року в Сочі анульовані, а самі вони довічно усунені від Олімпійських ігор. Таким чином, збірна Росії втратила ще дві медалі Олімпіади в Сочі - золота Третьякова і бронзи Нікітіної. У 2016 році була опублікована доповідь незалежної комісії Всесвітнього антидопінгового агентства (WADA) під керівництвом Річарда Макларена, присвячена розслідуванню можливих порушень у російській антидопінговій системі. Після цього МОК створив дві комісії, одна з яких - дисциплінарна на чолі з Освальдом - займається перевіркою проб росіян з Олімпійських ігор у Сочі. У листопаді 2017 року стали відомі перші рішення комісії Освальда. Російські лижники Олександр Легков, Євген Бєлов, Олексій Пєтухов, Максим Вилегжанін, Євгенія Шаповалова та Юлія Іванова були визнані винними в порушенні антидопінгових правил на Олімпіаді в Сочі, а всі їхні результати анульовані. Усі вони назавжди усунені від Олімпіад, зокрема і найближчих Ігор в південнокорейському Пхенчхані. Усього російські лижники втратили чотири медалі Олімпійських ігор у Сочі: золота Легкова на дистанції 50 км, срібла в естафеті і двох срібних нагород Вилегжаніна в гонці на 50 км і командному спринті класичним стилем. Після санкцій щодо Третьякова, Нікітіної, Орлової і Потиліциної у збірної Росії відібрані вже шість медалей Ігор у Сочі.
