Богомольця, заслужений лікар України професор Ольга Голубовська. "В Олександрівську лікарню було госпіталізовано молодого чоловіка з серозним менінгітом. У пацієнта, за деякими особливостями перебігу хвороби, була запідозрена лихоманка Західного Нілу. Діагноз "менінгіальна форма лихоманки Західного Нілу" підтверджено офіційно. На сьогодні стан пацієнта стабільний, динаміка позитивна, але про прогнози говорити ще рано", - зазначила професор Голубовська. Вона підкреслила, що лихоманка Західного Нілу - захворювання, яке виявляє зараз неймовірну активність в Європі. "Це досить небезпечне захворювання, інформованість про яке в широкомасштабній клінічній практиці низька. Цього року в багатьох країнах Європи спостерігається безпрецедентне зростання цього захворювання. Вважають, що це повязано з аномально високою температурою і тривалими дощами, що змінюються посухою. Такі погодні умови сприяють розмноженню і поширенню комарів. У країнах Євросоюзу з початку 2018 року зафіксовано 710 випадків захворювання. Найсильніше постраждали такі країни, як Сербія, Італія, Греція, Угорщина і Румунія. Ситуація настільки серйозна, що заплановано її обговорення на 68 сесії Європейського регіонального комітету ВООЗ, яка пройде в Римі (Італія) 17-20 вересня 2018 року", - сказала професор Голубовська. Вона акцентувала, що у 80% людей інфекція протікає безсимптомно. "У 20% хворих розвивається грипоподібне захворювання, що характеризується різким підвищенням температури тіла, головним болем, болем у горлі, мязах, суглобах і спині, слабкістю, нудотою і діареєю. Найнебезпечнішими в плані прогнозу є ураження центральної нервової системи (менінгіт, енцефаліт), смертність серед пацієнтів, у яких розвивається нейроінвазивна форма хвороби, становить від 4% до 14%", - зазначила професор Голубовська. Зазначимо, за даними Європейського центру з профілактики та боротьби із захворюваннями, в період з 24 липня по 20 серпня 2018 року в країнах Євросоюзу зафіксовано 300 випадків захворювання лихоманкою Західного Нілу. Найбільше випадків - в Італії (144). За один тиждень серпня 2018 зафіксовано 24 випадки смерті. Всього в 2018 році в країнах Євросоюзу зафіксовано 710 випадків захворювання лихоманкою Західного Нілу. Як інформує Всесвітня організація охорони здоровя, вірус Західного Нілу може призводити до розвитку неврологічної хвороби і смерті людей. Найбільші спалахи хвороби відбувалися в Ізраїлі, Греції, Румунії, Росії та США. Інфікування людини найчастіше відбувається внаслідок укусів інфікованих комарів. Комарі інфікуються під час живлення кровю інфікованих птахів - у їхній крові вірус циркулює впродовд декількох днів. Вірус може також передаватися при контакті з іншими інфікованими тваринами, їхньою кровю або іншими тканинами. Інфекція або протікає безсимптомно (приблизно у 80% інфікованих людей), або може призводити до розвитку лихоманки Західного Нілу або важкої хвороби Західного Нілу. Приблизно у 20% інфікованих людей розвивається лихоманка Західного Нілу. Її симптоми включають гарячковий стан, головний біль, втому і болі в тілі, нудоту, блювоту, іноді шкірний висип (на тулуб) і розпухлі лімфатичні вузли. Інкубаційний період зазвичай становить від 3 до 14 днів. Для пацієнтів із нейроінвазивною хворобою Західного Нілу проводиться підтримуюча терапія, при якій часто потрібні госпіталізація, внутрішньовенні вливання, допоміжна штучна вентиляція легенів і профілактика вторинних інфекцій.
