Lithuanian Seimas has initiated the so-called "Marshall Plan" for Ukraine, which provides at least EUR 5 billion a year to support reforms, First Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine, Minister of Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv has said. "A Lithuanian plan for Ukraine for 2017-2020 and the New European Plan for Ukraine (the so-called Marshall Plan) were discussed with Hanna Hopko (MP, the chair of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Foreign Affairs). This initiative of the Seimas of Lithuania provides economic, political and financial assistance for Ukraine in the context of European integration," Kubiv wrote on his social networking page on Friday. He noted that they were talking about at least EUR 5 billion of annual support for reforms aimed at economic growth and development. "Now the project is actively discussed in key international institutions to ensure a group of friends of Ukraine is formed and the necessary support is found for the plan in order to implement it," the deputy prime minister said.
