The Polish Prime Minister’s Office said that Pence, on behalf of US President Donald Trump, congratulated Morawiecki on his recent appointment as premier.
Pence also offered his congratulations as Poland this year marks the 100th anniversary of regaining its independence.
During the phone conversation on Friday, Morawiecki stressed that America’s military presence in Central and Eastern Europe is key for European security.
Pence and Morawiecki agreed to hold talks in Washington, with the details of the meeting to be worked out soon, Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
At the same time, Pence accepted an invitation to visit Poland, IAR added.
