Speaking at an international security conference in Munich, Morawiecki called for a road map for all the allied states to reach that threshold in order to be “more self-sufficient” rather than rely on the United States for defence.
Morawiecki singled out “the free riders who live under Pax Americana but pretend to be self-reliant in terms of security.”
Poland is among five NATO members that earmarks 2 percent of their GDP on defense.
Morawiecki added that alongside spending, the member states have “so many different tanks, planes and other types of equipment that it is difficult to create a common security and defence policy in Europe.” (aba)
