Speaking at an international security conference in Munich, Germany, Morawiecki called for a road map for all member countries to reach that threshold in order to be “more self-sufficient” rather than relying on the United States for defence.
Morawiecki singled out “the free riders who live under a Pax Americana but pretend to be self-reliant in terms of security.”
Poland is one of just five NATO members that earmark 2 percent of their GDP on defence.
Morawiecki added that NATO member states have “so many different tanks, planes and other types of equipment that it is difficult to create a common security and defence policy in Europe.”
