Runaway Ukrainian oligarch Kurchenko gets monopoly right to purchase coal in occupied Donbas, - Russian media Gaz-Alians, a company run by fugitive Ukrainian businessman Serhii Kurchenko, became the sole supplier of coal from the so-called “Dontsk and Luhansk People’s Republics” – the self-proclaimed republics in the Russian-occupied areas of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions better known as the “DPR” and “LPR”.A member of the so-called "People’s Council of the "DPR" Vladislav Brig told Russian news agency RBC, Censor.NET reports. A source from among the management of Rovenkyantratsyt Coal Company, which operates in occupied Luhansk, also said that the export of coal from the "DPR"/"LPR" was monopolized by the companies associated with Kurchenko. The reports about exclusive right to export coal from the breakaway republics being granted to Kurchenko’s companies are also confirmed by the motion jointly drafted by the Russian coal traders, which were previously also involved in Donbas coal trade. According to one of the petition authors who asked not to be named, the document says that on March 14, 2018, Russian Ministry of Economic Development sent a telegram to RZD Logistics which bans export of coal from "DPR"/"LPR" for any company except for Gaz-Alians.
