Andrzej Duda said Annan "will remain in our memory as a person who tirelessly worked for the protection of human rights and the improvement of living conditions in Africa". Annan was an internationally respected diplomat and a laureate of the Nobel Prize for Peace.kofi As a United Nations representative in Syria he tried to bring about a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in the country, before redirecting his attention to the Rohingya crisis. Annan, a Ghanan national, died in Switzerland on August 18, 2018. He was 80-years-old. (vb) Source: IAR/PAP
