PHOTOS In Brest, Belarus, the local activists held the "Historical truth campaign" by sticking posters showing the military parade jointly held by the Wehrmacht and Red Army in this city on Sept. 22, 1939."On the anniversary of the begginning of the Second World War launched by the USSR and Germany, alongside of propaganda graffiti, a huge poster depicting the joint parade of the Wehrmacht and Red Army troops in occupied Brest of Sept. 22, 1939 was put up near the Brest Fortress," Censor.NET reports citing a statement by the members of Charter97. The incumbent Belarusian government also tries to relegate the truth to the obscure corner replacing it with ideological myths about the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. The campaign primarily targets the Russian tourists, the large number of whom do not have a clue that the USSR entered the war not on June 22, 1941, and was not a victim, but an aggressor," the activists said. According to Wikipedia, German–Soviet military parade in Brest-Litovsk refers to an official ceremony held by the troops of Nazi Germany and the Soviet Union on Sept. 22, 1939, during the invasion of Poland in the city of Brest-Litovsk (or Brześć Litewski, then in the Second Polish Republic, now Brest in Belarus).
