The announcement by the Polish Biathlon Association follows an uninspiring season for Polish biathletes, both women and men, including their disappointing showing at the winter Olympics in South Korea.
Bilova previously worked with the Polish women’s biathlon team from 2002 to 2010. She later coached young Polish biathletes.
“Nadiya Bilova has already worked with us for many years. We know her and we are also appreciative of her work with our youngsters over the past year,” Dagmara Gerasimuk, head of the Polish Biathlon Association, has told the PAP news agency.
The national women’s biathlon team had its heyday under its Polish coach Adam Kołodziejczyk, who resigned in February last year.
Polish women biathletes won four world championship medals, six European championships medals, and claimed more World Cup podiums than ever previously during Kołodziejczyk’s time as coach.
Poland finished seventh in the womens biathlon 4x6km relay at the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics in February.
Leading Polish biathlete Weronika Nowakowska in March retired from competitive sports after a career that saw her win honours including two world championship medals for her country.
